Oliva News - Tornado in Oliva
On the 8th July 2009 weather conditions in the area cause some heavy rain in
the Oliva area. and several waterspouts / tornados were spotted
just off the Oliva Playa beach area.
A Tornado or Two Hits Oliva Coastline
The Costa Azahar was hit by a series of small tornadoes last week. People on the
beach at Oliva watched them in amazement as they formed out at sea and travelled
towards the land ,dissipating before they hit it though .Luckily there was no
damage to the coastline or any person on the coast .
The phenomenon occurred at about 10am and about 60 people stood on the Oliva
beach snapping photographs of the event. It seems that long white funnels came
out of the sky ,stretching down towards the sea. When it touched the water it
caused a whirlpool effect. There was a stormy atmosphere and strong winds ,plus
very high temperatures. When a wave of hot humid air hits a current of cold dry
air then these phenomenon can occur.
